➡ 001 : FAQ
LAST UPDATED: December 22, 2008
1.) Where is the laundry mat located?
■ No one really knows. The only thing we do know, is that the laundry mat can be accessed by everyone, hero or villain or that character in between.
2.) Does time stop in the laundry mat?
■ You could say that. However, it's not a definite rule, since the washing machines and dryers do time out whenever your laundry is done. If time didn't exist in the store, then you might be doing laundry forever! Time stops in a sense, when you interact with other characters, or events pop up.
3.) Events? What sort of events?
■ Depends on what the mods will think of, but events could range from a new washing machine (which subsequently lessens some interactions) to a broken one. Such events will affect every character.
4.) How will we know when events like that happen?
■ It'll be posted in the main communitylaundryreel with the tag, "!lrevent". We won't make events without announcing it first, of course. Events will be posted in a "tag board".
5.) Where will we post our entries? Will we make journals?
■ All entries will be posted in the main community as well. As such, please put very long entries behind an lj-cut, and tag entries in the main community with the name of your taken character. (e.g. James Potter makes an entry, he must then tag his entry as "james potter") Of course, to join in the RP you must make your own "journal" of the character you applied for and got accepted as. This refers to posting in that said journal. You can post whatever you want in your character journal, but remember, all main entries must be posted in the main community.
6.) What do you mean by "multi-fandom"?
■ You can apply for characters from anime, manga, video games and cartoons. Book/movie/t.v. are not allowed as of now.
7.) Speaking of reserves, can we reserve early?
■ Yes you can, but reserves for characters only last for 72 hours or 3 days at the max. That'll give you enough time to fill out the application form. Once the time limit is up, your reserve expires and someone else can reserve for that certain character. You cannot re-apply again once your time runs out! Wait until someone applies, and if that person gets rejected, then that's when you may apply again.
8.) How many characters can we apply for?
■ You may apply for a maximum of three characters per fandom. It' wont be any fun if you play all the characters from the series. Who would you interact with?
9.) Can we apply for the owner of the laundry mat?
■ Oh, no. You can only apply as the characters from the different fandoms. Such applications will be deleted upon notice.
10.) I got accepted! Do I have to do laundry whenever I'm in the main community?
■ It would be nice if that's what you did, but let's say your character isn't the type to do laundry on Mondays. Then he or she could just hang out there, and wait for unsuspecting victims :) However, try and do laundry every once in a while, since that is the reason why this RP was made. Otherwise, if the only thing your character does is stand there and harass people, then we might consider that as loitering. (It's not like we can kick you out, but yeah.)
11.) Can we do R-rated scenes?
■...I don't know why you would in a laundry shop, but such scenes will be strictly limited to kissing. No lemons in the community please. If you must, though, then please do it in your character journals with the proper warnings under a cut. Leave the innocent shop out of your love making, please :)
12.) Can we make our characters gay/lesbian?
■ Though I have no problems with such characters, if the character you applied for is, in canon, straight, then stick with that. If you happen to make entries that hint yaoi or yuri or such, and your character is in no such canon anyway, then it will be considered OOC, and we don't want that.
13.) You mentioned that the laundry mat is a shop. Do we need money? Where do we get it?
■ The laundry mat is, as said, a laundry mat, and if you've ever been to one, you'll know you need change to operate the machines. We'll leave it to you where you get your money. Maybe you just came from a huge fight and now you've got tons of money? Who knows. It might make for a good conversation too, asking for change from an unknown person :)
14.) What point of view do we use when we post in the community?
■ Please post in first person point of view. If you need to do some action, put them in between asterisks (**) or brackets [].
15.) What does OOC mean?
■ OOC = Out of Character. When you're posting in the main community as your taken character, try as much as possible to be in character, meaning act and speak as the character you applied for. Strictly speaking, if we receive reports of your character acting OOC in the main community/journals, then we hold the right to strip you of the character if you are, indeed, proven to be very OOC. Keep such entries in the OOC communitylaundryreelooc.
16.) Can we make OC characters?
■ NO. This community is only open for existing canon characters from anime, manga, video games, and etc. Applications which contain OC characters will be deleted without notice. And no, we're not contemplating this for the future.
17.) Can fights occur inside the laundry mat?
■ No, but certain conditions apply. First off, your character can't just go stomping in the room and screaming he wants to fight someone. Wrong RP, dear. Second, interactions would be nice before any real fighting. Give the two or three characters some tension before swinging their swords around. And lastly, such fights cannot be held inside the laundry mat. Take it to your journals.
18.) Can characters die here?
■ Character deaths inside the shop are uncommon, but possible. You can enter your character all bloodied and wounded, but if you were bloody and on the brink of death, why in the world would you go in a laundry mat instead of a hospital? :')
19.) So, when our character dies, what'll happen?
■ Nothing. As I previously said, character deaths are highly uncommon. We'll just assume you got revived. The laundry mat is for interactions and such while doing laundry, so please don't insert some high drama into such a simple thing. Too much wangst is a no-no, but is good from time to time. Who knew doing laundry could bring out such emotions?
20.) Will we ourselves watch/join the communities?
■ No. Just your character journals will be allowed to join/watch the communities.
21.) Can we pimp this role-playing community?
■ Of course! :) We even made a super special awesome code for you!
